Mission and Objectives

Mission Statement

The mission of the Industrial Engineering Technology (IET) program is to prepare graduates to be able to improve efficiency and profitability for manufacturing and business operations. They achieve this through the holistic optimization of all business resources, which include people, capital, equipment, materials, technology, and information.

Program Objectives
  • Graduates utilize mathematical, statistical, and industrial engineering tools to provide holistic solutions to operational problems for business and industry.
  • Graduates design and establish systems to integrate people, capital, equipment, materials, technology, and information, with consideration for ethical, economical, environmental, health and safety, social and political issues.
  • Graduates continuously improve systems, products, processes and services with emphasis on quality, productivity and competitiveness.
  • Graduates engage in life-long learning.
  • Graduates are effective team members and team leaders on multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Graduates communicate technical and business ideas and concepts graphically, orally and in writing.
Program Outcomes
  1. Demonstrate appropriate mastery of the knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of industrial engineering technology
  2. Apply current knowledge and adapt to emerging applications of mathematics, science, engineering and technology
  3. Conduct, analyze and interpret experiments and apply experimental results to improve processes
  4. Apply creativity in the design of systems, components or processes in the field of industrial engineering technology
  5. Function effectively on teams
  6. Identify, analyze and solve technical problems
  7. Communicate effectively by written, oral and graphical means
  8. Recognize the need for lifelong learning
  9. Appreciate professional, ethical and social responsibilities
  10. Respect diversity and knowledge of contemporary, professional, societal and global issues

  12. Integrate systems using appropriate analytical, computational, and application practices and procedures
  13. Apply knowledge of probability, statistics, engineering economic analysis and cost control necessary in the field of industrial engineering technology
