Hamid Fonooni, Ph.D., CPE, is a board-certified professional ergonomist and is a tenured full-time associate professor in the MS, Occupational Safety program (MSOS). He has over 20 years of experience in teaching and research in occupational and industrial ergonomics, has published numerous papers in refereed professional journals and has presented numerous papers at national and international conferences.

Michael Behm, Ph.D., CSP, is an Assistant Professor in the Occupational Safety program. Dr. Behm’s research interests are in the area of safety through design and making a business case of the safety function. In the past two years, Dr. Behm has authored two publications in peer-reviewed journals, five peer-reviewed conference proceedings, has been invited to six industry presentations, and presented two research presentations at the NORA 2006 Symposium. He teaches the following courses in the MSOS Program: 1) Communications, Critical Thinking and Research in Occupational Safety, 2) Applied Safety Management, 3) Fire Prevention and Protection, 4) Contemporary Issues in Occupational Safety, and 5) directs theses.

Tarek Abdel-Salam, Ph.D., PE, leads and teaches the Hazardous Materials and Environmental Operations courses. Dr. Abdel-Salam‘s industrial experience and research expertise is in the fate and transport of environmental contaminants and in the environmental management systems. Dr. Abdel-Salam’s expertise fulfills a vital need of our training program to enhance students’ knowledge of environmental management and regulations to succeed as a generalist in the safety profession.

David Batts, Ed.D., is a MSOS graduate and is a faculty member in the Industrial Technology area. Dr. Batts has previously taught numerous graduate courses in the MSOS program. He teaches Industrial Safety, Fire Protection and Protection, and Applied Safety management on an as-needed basis.

Ed Crotts, CIH, teaches our Applications of Industrial Hygiene course. Ed is a full-time faculty member in the Department of Environmental Health.
