Printable Program Summary The website developer certificate program prepares graduates for employment as website developers and managers. The certificate program enhances skills that are necessary to be successful in jobs such as webmaster, web designer, web application developer, and similar positions. The program is structured to achieve this objective through 15 semester hours of advanced course work. The website developer certificate program is offered completely online. Students are required to have high-speed Internet connection. Hands-on experiences using industrial standard software is provided through our servers. All courses are offered on-line with no on-campus residency required. Fifteen hours of Internet-based, on-line graduate coursework are required for the CNP certificate.

Transfer hours are not accepted in the website developer certificate program. An overall B average is required in all coursework in the website developer certificate program. Two C’s result in dismissal. Admission Standards You must have a B.S degree from an accredited institution and have either an overall GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale on all undergraduate work, or a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in either the undergraduate major or work taken during the senior year. Admission Procedure Complete the Certificate Application for Certificate Programs and return with one copy of official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate coursework (sealed) along with two letters of recommendation from persons who can attest to the applicant's academic competence or potential in the website developer environment. Completion of a standardized examination, such as the GRE, is not required for admission to the website developer certificate program. The Fine Print Admission to and completion of the website developer certificate program does not supersede the admission requirements to a M.S. degree program at East Carolina University nor does it guarantee admission to a degree program. Concurrent work on an M.S. degree requires admission to the M.S. program. The Department of Technology Systems is a national leader in offering graduate level technology related degrees online. The program is Internet-based and students are advised, complete courses, collaborate on projects, perform research, and complete the degree via the Internet. Each student should have a state-of-the-art computer and reliable Internet access. Students will spend 10-15 hours per week in preparing for and participating in each course. Most of the students in the program are working professionals who are pursuing the degree for career advancement. Average completion time is 18 months if three credits per semester are taken. Courses are scheduled in a sequence over the fall, spring, and summer semesters and this allows program entry in any semester. Formats for the courses vary but all include frequent interaction with the instructor and other students. Courses are offered using a variety of Internet-based tools including streaming video, email, chat, threaded discussion, web, file transfer, and collaboration tools.
