Masters of Science degree programs: An applicant must have a baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a regional association and have an overall GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale on all undergraduate work. Each applicant must achieve a satisfactory score on a standardized graduate test. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is preferred. The minimum acceptable test score is based on a moving scale determined by the ECU Graduate School. A student holding a masters degree from an accredited university does not have to retake the standardized graduate exam. Graduate Certificates: The admission requirements are the same for the graduate certificate programs as our degree programs with the exception that the standardized graduate test is not required. Since only nine hours of non degree credit may be applied to a MS degree, students who begin in a certificate program and then decide to apply for the MS degree should do so within the first three courses to avoid lost credit. Admission Procedure: Download a graduate application packet from the Graduate School then complete the application form along with the other included forms (Statement of Legal Residence form & Statement of Purpose form). Check out the new online application--this is for degree status only! Return the completed forms along with official copies of all transcripts and three letters of reference to the Graduate School. You must also complete the Departmental Entrance Application. Applications will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Full requirements, responsibilities, and procedures of the Graduate School are located at: http://www.ecu.edu/gradschool/. Once Accepted: When you receive your official acceptance letter (degree or non-degree) from the ECU Graduate School, students in the Department of Technology Systems Graduate Programs should immediately contact the Graduate Office (252-328-9653) at mstechsystems@ecu.edu to establish your paperwork with the department and obtain contact information for your program coordinator. |
