Distribution and Logistics represents professions in the workplace concerned with the movement and delivery of goods and services throughout the world. At ECU, this program provides a unique combination of coursework that prepares students for successful careers in a range of challenging areas.

Courses cover areas of the distribution and logistics industry including:

  • Sales and Branch operations
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Marketing
  • Purchasing and Procurement
  • Warehousing and Materials Handling
  • Inventory Management
  • Production Planning
  • Quality control

The course work is supported in our Distribution Simulation Laboratory which provides real world experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems with Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Warehouse Operations, Bar Coding, RFID, and Sales database handling with ACT!

Our new addition of SAP software is also used to enhance the capabilities of our students giving them real-world experiences with a detailed software package.

Specialized Internships/Co-Op Experiences

Students are also required to complete an internship or co-op experience which enables them to work with companies to help solve distribution and logistics issues. This allows them to spend a semester working with management in solving real-world issues in a particular facility. Students present their findings to upper management and faculty at the end of the semester and create a portfolio to show their success.
