Professional Organizations

Below is a brief description about some of the professional organizations associated with the department.  To learn more about each group, click on the title.

RCM Series - East Carolina University’s Department of Construction Management, in partnership with the National Housing Endowment, the philanthropic arm of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), joins with the nation's leading industry experts to present an informative online series of discussions on the present and future of residential construction management.  We hope you will gain a wealth of insight during webcast seminars designed to enlighten the audience on this evolving profession. 

PROCOREPROCORE - ECU CMGT Capstone and Quality Management Classes use new PROCORE Software Program.  Beginning January 2008, the Construction Management Department began using PROCORE for many of our classes (2664, 3663, 4601, 4664), and the results have been favorable. 

VICOVICO CONSTRUCTOR - ECU CMGT 2800 and Graduate course CMGT 6630 students use the new VICOCONSTRUCTOR Software Program as a free download and a one-year renewable license.

CACESE - In April1999, the Associated General Contractors of America Education & Research Foundation awarded Dr. David L. Batie and the Department of Construction Management at East Carolina University the William A. Klinger Memorial Award. The award was to fund the initial development of the Center of Applied Construction for Elementary and Secondary Education (CACESE), a Web-based learning environment to promote two important goals. 

PCEA - The Professional Construction Estimators Association of America, Inc., has as its purpose to promote and improve the construction industry through education of the Association's membership, through the continuing education of construction professionals and craftsman.  The Coastal Plains and Triangle Chapters are actively involved with ECU’s Construction Management program.

ASC - The Associated Schools of Construction is the professional association for the development and advancement of construction education, where the sharing of ideas and knowledge inspires, guides and promotes excellence in curricula, teaching, research and service.

ACCE - American Council of Construction Education is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) as the accrediting agency for four year baccalaureate degree programs in construction, construction science, construction management, and construction technology, and as the accrediting agency for two year associate-degree programs of a like nature. East Carolina's Department of Construction Management was the first accredited construction management program in the state of North Carolina and is one of about 60 accredited four year bachelor programs in the country.
