The mission of Construction Management Program at East Carolina University is to prepare graduates for professional careers in the construction industry, to expand construction knowledge, and to help meet the construction needs of the region, the state, and the world. Our four year curriculum is divided into three parts. One part is dedicated to general education consisting of coursework in English, math, social sciences, and humanities. The second part prepares students with needed expertise in business management and human relations. Classes include Accounting, Business Management, Business Law, Engineering Economics, and Marketing. The third part of our curriculum is focused on the technical side of the construction industry. Construction classes include introductory classes in Construction Techniques, Surveying, and Mechanical and Electrical Systems. As you advance through the program, students receive additional instruction on the sophisticated tools required to run complex construction projects. At this level students are engaged in classes for Estimating, Scheduling, Construction Supervision and Quality Assurance. Construction graduates develop computer skills in a variety of construction programs such as AutoCAD, Primavera, and Timberline. It is also possible for our graduates to receive an OSHA forty hour safety certification.
